Safety Simplifier Hardware
For the applications and use cases, 4 different versions of the Safety Simplifier are available:
A secure CAN-Communication can be retrofitted at any time.
Modular buildable
The demands on safety technology in factory automation and process industries are becoming increasingly complex. Especially in interconnected systems, the wide range of safety sensors and actuators must be networked and intelligently connected.
With four hardware versions, the Safety Simplifier provides maximum flexibility. At the same time, the flexibly configurable inputs and outputs of each Safety Simplifier simplify the creation of safety systems.
Commercial safety controllers typically require different modules for functions as well as for inputs and outputs. These must be designed in advance or supplemented with various input and output modules. The Safety Simplifier replaces these input and output modules with just one device.
Inputs
All modern safety sensors can be connected to the Safety Simplifier. Each of the 14 connection terminals can be configured as an input or output. In the "Simplifier Manager" software, the corresponding module is selected. By selecting the module, the connection terminal is configured as an input. The safety modules securely evaluate signals such as OSSD signals, potential contacts, or switching bars, depending on the requirements.

Innovative In- and Output Functions Reduce I/O Requirements
Our motto "we simplify safety" is also reflected in simple functions like our illuminated push buttons. Conventional controllers require both an input and an output to evaluate illuminated push buttons—one for controlling the LED and another for querying the button’s contact.
The input and output function can be used simultaneously: the output controls the LED (illuminated part) of the push button, and the input checks the state of the button (whether it is pressed or not).

Outputs
Flexibility in the outputs is a strength of the Safety Simplifier, as all 14 digital inputs and outputs can be used as a safe OSSD output when needed. Optionally, with the S16 unit, two pairs of potential-free relay outputs are also available, allowing safe actuators to be switched off flexibly. Single-channel safe outputs can be used up to PLd, and dual-channel safe outputs can be used up to PLe. The digital outputs can also be flexibly used as non-safe outputs, for example, to generate status outputs or test signals.
A wide range of options for the individual Safety Simplifier results from the variety of enclosures, button types, lights, and connection options. This allows for a customized setup to be assembled for every application and requirement.
Even more options become available when two enclosures are connected. Through a connection system with sealing, the protection class IP65 is still maintained.
