The core of the system – The Simplifier Gateway

The core of the system is the Simplifier Gateway. The Simplifier devices integrated into the application communicate wirelessly within a mesh network. Each device transmits its data via Simple-CAN to the Simplifier Gateway, which then securely forwards it to the Siemens controller via PROFIsafe.

Reduced wiring errors in large automation systems:

  • With the Simplifier Gateway, up to 16 Simplifier projects can be linked in a system network, supporting a maximum of 256 Simplifier devices.
  • The power supply capacity does not impact the Simplifier Gatebox, thanks to wireless safety communication.
  • No PROFInet cables are required for each device during installation or decommissioning, as secure information is transmitted via wireless communication.
  • Wiring efforts are significantly reduced by consolidating the system into a single Simplifier Gateway.
  • If system components lack a PROFIsafe interface, they can easily be integrated into the safety concept using standard potential-free contacts.

All Simplifier devices exchange information wirelessly within the mesh network. The data collected by the Simplifier devices is forwarded to the Simplifier Gateway, which communicates with the Siemens controller via PROFIsafe.

Alternatively, data can also be exchanged between the Simplifier devices via CAN. Whether communication occurs wirelessly or via CAN, all data is routed to PROFIsafe through the Simplifier Gateway and can be centrally programmed and managed in the TIA programming software.
